I started working in IT in 1989, for the UK health service. They took me on as I had a degree in genetics, rather than any IT skills (those were the days). I joined Oracle Corporation (by accident) in 1992 and have been working with the database ever since. For the last 16 years I have been an independant contractor, except for a six year period working for the UK side of the Human Genome Project, where I was head of database services. I am now an independant consultant specialising in Oracle database architecture and performance. I present when I can and occasionally run training courses.
